Routine Dental Examination

Regular dental visits every 6 months are crucial for maintaining oral health and allowing us to catch any health concerns early on.

How often should I visit?

We recommend that patients schedule their check-up appointments every 6 months for regular maintenance and cleanings.

This is so that we can properly examine your teeth, gums and bite and make recommendations for procedures that we feel are necessary to restore your oral health.

What information do I need to provide?

If you are a new patient, welcome! Our team of professionals look forward to working with you on your oral health journey.

During your initial appointment, we will need some essential information to know more about you and make more informed recommendations for treatment and care. Areas that we will focus on include:

  • Medical history: We need to establish if you have any current health concerns or are predisposed to specific conditions, including ones not relating to your dental health. This is to ensure that we understand your risks and medications.
  • Oral health: Please inform us if you think you may have a cavity, tooth sensitivity or other issues with your oral health. We can then examine the area and ease your concerns.
  • Dental fears/anxieties: You may feel slightly embarrassed to admit that you have some fears around dental visits, but we are here to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Let us know if you or your child experience dental anxiety, and our friendly team will assist.

What happens during a dental check-up?

Our comprehensive dental check-ups include teeth, gums and mouth examination, cleaning, digital X-rays and treatment recommendations. We aim to get a complete picture of your dental health to establish a tailored treatment or prevention plan to restore or maintain your health.

One of our expert practitioners will perform an initial examination of your teeth and gums to check for damage or decay. This may include digital X-rays to check for cavities or tooth and bite concerns. Our digital intra- and extraoral X-rays allow for the lowest possible exposure to radiation and produce high-quality images for diagnostic accuracy.

We then do a professional cleaning to remove plaque build-up and polish your teeth. Your check-up will conclude with the practitioner providing preventative measures to practice at home for optimal oral health, as well as advising specific treatments if necessary.
